For their February 2013 issue, W Magazine made a editorial about 2012’s best performances in film. February being “Oscar month” this editorial represents great press for this group of 33 actors and actresses. I haven’t seen the majority of these movies so my focus isn’t the films or even the actors, but the photography of this editorial.

Juergen Teller, who is probably my favorite photographer, shot this editorial. Teller is mostly known (at least to me) for shooting the Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs ad campaigns. I love his photography because it makes the subjects real [Marion Cotillard, Kristen Stewart, and (I think) Nicole Kidman are wearing no make up] instead of the beautiful, fantastic, and airbrushed creatures that we tend to see on billboards and magazines.
