Prints, prints everywhere: Tropical

Altuzarra / Proenza Schouler / Roberto Cavalli (S/S 2012)

One of the most exciting things that were seen on the runways last September were the tropical/Hawaiian prints. It’s such a powerful print that the sight of them transports you to a hammock (frozen drink of choice in hand) on a hot, white sand, palm surrounded beach with calm, bright turquoise waters. My personal favorite print was the one used by Joseph Altuzarra for his S/S 2012 collection. It’s the most perfect print of them all. Altuzarra was not the only one to show such amazing prints. Peter Pilotto was another of my favorites but I think his garments fall on another category of prints (More on Pilotto later in the summer). Thanks to this trend, tropical prints stopped being a tacky print seen only on tourists and senior citizens and has now become a statement making print with high sartorial potential. The bolder and more colorful the print, the more awesome you’re going look. Warning: use cautiously. Below are two sets featuring various garments with this type of print. The first one is the prêt a porter set, while the second one is for us who can only afford prêt a porter in our dreams.

As a bonus I present you some must haves. Seriously, if you can buy them go for it. I promise you’ll end up wearing the crap out of them before August.

I hope you’re happy with this selection because my heart’s racing a little at the sight of these awesome garments. So what are your thoughts on tropical prints? Yay? Nay? Maybay? Sound off below.

Till the next post guys!! Take care.

    • Me too! Proenza Schouler has some of my favorite prints for the spring/summer. Thanks for commenting, it’s nice to see British bloggers commenting here.
