Trendspotting / Want & Need

Baby Got Back(pack)

We’re in mid-August and that means that back to school shopping is underway among fellow students. I remember that my favorite part of back to school shopping was the backpack. The backpack was everything. I’ve always used uniforms during K – 12 so backpacks were a big deal when it came to showing off your personal style. Nowadays I’m more of a minimalist in the bag department which makes sense since I don’t wear uniforms anymore, and my focus has turned south to where the shoes are.

I’ve noticed that with the 90s trend along came the backpack trend which is at full force right now. Since The Row presented the ridiculously expensive croc skinned backpack, there was a small movement of adult women wearing chic backpacks. Now it’s an even bigger deal with back to school shopping. It reminds me of Cher from “Clueless”. I’m sure that a lot of girls will have some Cher Horowitz style inspiration in their “first day of school” outfit. Unless they go to the total opposite (no, not Tai) which is Lindsay Weir from “Freaks and Geeks”. Didn’t you hear? The military trend is back too.

In honor of the current “Back to School” theme I browsed the internet looking for backpacks and found 18 worthy of a look. My main goal was to look for backpacks under $100 and I succeeded. Only two of the backpacks are over the limit but they’re sooo amazing. Check them out!

So what are your thoughts on the backpacks? Love them? Hate them? Tell me below!
