I don’t know what it is (the crappy weather perhaps?) but my mind’s palette is descending into darker territories. I’ve been obsessing with black lately. I think that my recent purchase might have been the instigator, or perhaps I’ve been heavily browsing Cheap Monday goods. Conclusion: it’s a combo of both. In honor of this classic yet gothic color (or lack of color?) here’s a list of people from both fact and fiction, that live on the color, and serve me as style (or just plain) inspiration.

1. Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth Salander: Leather, distressed garments, the bike, that hair, the “Fuck you, you fucking fuck” t-shirt. No one does it better in the Millenium trilogy. ‘Nuff said.

2. Kate Lanphear: I’m gonna go on a limb here and say that no one does black on black in New York like Kate Lanphear. NO ONE.

3. Jayne Min from Stop it Right Now: I love Jayne Min’s high fashion, menswear inspired California style and to me she’s the Kate Lanphear of the west coast. NO ONE does black on black out west like Jayne Min. NO ONE.
