El 2012 está a la vuelta de la esquina y con el llegan nuevas metas, esperanzas y tendencias. Varios diseñadores mostraron sus los productos de sus inspiraciones en las diferentes semanas de la moda en el mundo pero hubieron ciertas tendencias que se repitieron en varias ocasiones. Les presento algunas (no todas) de mis tendencias favoritas que podrían (o no) verse durante el 2012.

2012 is right around the corner and with it come new goals, hopes and trends. Various designers presented the product of their inspirations in the different fashion weeks around the world, but there were certain trends that were seen on more than one occasion. I present to you some (not all) of my favorite trends that might (or might not) be seen during 2012.

Tangerine Tango: El color del 2012

     Pantone escogió al tangerine tango como el color del 2012. El naranja rojizo se apreció en varias presentaciones en la semana de la moda en Nueva York el pasado septiembre.

     Pantone chose tangerine tango as the color of 2012. The reddish orange was seen on various New York fashion week presentations this past September.

Blanco

     El blanco (junto con tonalidades neutrales) fue uno de los colores preferidos por los diseñadores (en especial Nueva York) durante la semana de moda en septiembre. Para evitar verte como una bola de algodón, compra piezas “sheer” ya que son refrescantes y se pueden usar con “layering”. Espera ver el blanco en todos lados en marzo.

White (along with other neutral tones) was one of the prefered colors by designes on NYFW. Tip: To not look like a cotton ball buy white sheet pieces, they’re fresh looking, they work with just about everything and are transformable with some layering. Expect to see white everywhere on March.

Piezas femeninas (y cómodas)

     Es raro ver las palabras cómoda y femenina en una oración ya que femenino es sinónimo (para hombres y ciertas mujeres) para ropa ajustada y tacos altos. Los diseñadores parecen que buscaron inspiración de los 20 con trajes “drop waist” y de los 60 con trajes y faltas “A line”. El único ajuste que he visto ha sido en la cintura. Blusas y tops con collares masculinos y estructurados complementan y balancean las piezas über femeninas del 2012.

     It’s weird to see the words comfortable and feminine in one sentence since feminine is synonym (to some men and some women) of tight clothing and high heels. Designers seem to have found inspiration in the roaring twenties with their drop-waist dresses and in the sixties with their A line cut dresses. The tightest thing you’ll see on a dress might be the waist this year. Structured, collared shirts inspired by menswear will complement and balance the über feminine pieces of 2012.

Aberturas altas

     Adicional a las faldas conservativas, un corte que se aprecio mucho fueron los trajes y las faldas con aperturas altas. Si va a usar este tipo de falda que el top sea algo conservativo, o sea no escotes ni espaldas al descubierto.

     In addition to the conservative skirts mentioned before, a cut that was seen a lot was the high slits on the dresses and skirts in some collections from NYFW. If you’re going to go with this type of skirt wear a conservative top, which means no cleavage or bare backs.

Moda inspirada en el viejo oeste (Vaquero, Nativo americano, “prairie”)

     Se lleva viendo desde el 2011 y se seguirá viendo en el 2012. Gracias a diseñadores como Thakoon y Marc Jacobs (este  último con su twist a los flequillos haciéndolos con plástico) las faldas maxi, los sombreros, los flequillos y las botas de vaquero o con cordones se apreciaran en el 2012.

     It’s been popular in 2011 and it will roll over to 2012. Thanks to Thakoon and Marc Jacobs (Jacobs gave fringe a futuristic twist with the plastic version of it) maxi skirts, hats, fringe, lace up boots and cowboy boots will still be around on 2012.

Zapatos metálicos

     Si creías que los zapatos metálicos solo son para las fiestas de navidad y año nuevo, estas equivocado. Los zapatos metálicos se vieron en grandes cantidades en la gran mayoría de los desfiles en Nueva York. Rodarte, Thakoon, Marc Jacobs, Alice + Olivia, y Cynthia Rowley fueron algunos de los diseñadores que presentaron sus colecciones con zapatos metálicos.

     If you thought that metallic shoes were only worn on the holidays you are so wrong. Large and awesome quantities of metallic shoes were seen in a lot of show on NYFW. Rodarte, Thakoon, Marc Jacobs, Alice + Olivia and Cynthia Rowley were some of the designers that presented metallic shoes in their collections.

 

     There are a lot more trends like mesh + moto gear + Hawaiian prints = Alexander Wang and jungle fever + a little geometric back opening awesomeness = Proenza Schouler. I would feel like a rude bitch if I let this two behind, especially P. S. (I really LOVE that collection). Did I miss something? Probably, but this are just some predictions for the New Year. Other bloggers, websites and magazines have done theirs, so why can’t I show mine? How do we know who’s right? By looking around us in 2012 and deciding whether we like what we see and have the balls to wear it. Follow and wear what you like and feel comfortable wearing because it’s YOUR style and most importantly (unless you use mommy and daddy’s plastic) YOUR money.

     Achieve the impossible is my motto for 2012 and I’m already off to a good start. I got accepted to grad school and will study Fashion Merchandising which is a huge and drastic turn from teaching but you gotta do what you love to be happy; and I’ve been wanting to do this for years.
